Flapper Style Popularized
The flapper style originates from Europe. This style focuses on shorter hemlines, a dropped waistline, and a shorter hairstyle. Women strived to get a more boyish, athetic look. Cloche hats, turban hats, longs strands of jewelry, wraps, and jeweled headbands were all popular accesories of the 20s. -

Bobbed hair was the trend of the 1920s and came in a variety of styles as well as with bangs or without. In the late twenties Marcel waves (also known as finger waves) became popular. -

Children's Fashion
One other change that was significant of the 1920s is the fact that baby clothing were designed to be more practical. More comfortable outfits such as rompers and short dresses replaced the frilly laced dresses and other formal baby attire. For older girls, dress was different as well. They usually were seen wearing items such as cotton frocks, cardigan sweaters, and canvas shoes or sandals. -

In the 1920's it was very common for men to wear hats. Hairstyles were usually slicked back with an oil-based product called Brillantine and then usually parted in 3 popular ways center, side, or wide part.
Facial Hair
The new safety razor by Gillette caused men were enjoying shaving again. Except for the ultra thin mustache men were not wearing any facial hair in the 1920s. To wear facial hair was a sign that you were hiding things like old scars from a small pox outbreak. -

The most essential part of men's fashion in the 20s is the suit. Suit pants always matched the suit jacket. Lots of colors in dress shirts and bow ties. Hats were made of felt or straw depending on the season and were in the styles tall crown, center dent, fedora, a bowler or derby and homburg with rolled brim. -
