    Treaty of Versailles
    After WWI the League of Nations and Treaty of Versailles was created to keep the peace and prevent another war from happening. Germany was to abide to the rules from the Treaty of Versailles and dismantle their army. The League of Nations purposefully did not have a army in order to not promote militarism or cause another war.
  • Hitler takes control of Germany

    Hitler takes control of Germany
    Once Hitler took control of Germany, he started to rebuild Germany's army and disregarded the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler was prepared for war in order to expand his German empire. Hitler's ideology was to eliminate those who were non-Aryan and repopulate those lands with Aryan Germans.

    Hitler's first target was Germany's old territory -the Rhineland- he sent German troops to reclaim the land. The French did not like German troops near their land fearing it threat of war and requested help from Britain as Germany was disregarding the rules of the Treaty of Versailles. Britain not wanting a confrontation decided to appease Hitler and gave up the Rhineland hoping to prevent a war.

    Two years later, after the invasion of the Rhineland, Hitler annexed Austria. Hitler's justification for invading Austria was wanting to bring Austrian and German people together because the Austrians spoke German and were cultured similar to German people. Once Hitler had the Austrian government surrender the League of Nations by then very much concerned, but still choose appeasement instead of confrontation, giving into Hitler showing weak leadership.

    A few months later, Hitler easily took control of Czechoslovakia demanding they surrender to Germany. The Czechoslovakia government fearing for their nation were prepared to fight against Hitler. However; France and Britain, leaders from the League of Nations chose to negotiate with Hitler.

    During the same month as Czechoslovakia was invaded, the leaders of France and Britain decided to make an agreement with Hitler. This was called the Munich Pact, when they had decided to appease Hitler by giving up Czechoslovakia with a promise from him to stop invading other European countries.Though both France and Britain failed to help Czechoslovakia they were proud to avoid confrontation though negotiation and believed Hitler would keep his word.
  • Nazi-Soviet Pact

    Later, on France and Britain would not be the only ones to negotiating with Germany. Hitler intimidated by the Soviet Union as unlike France and Britain, Stalin's army consisted of enough people many times the size of the Nazi army to overpower it. Wanting to avoid and fearing the wrath of Hitler decided to form an alliance with Stalin called the Nazi-Soviet Pact agreeing not to invade each others countries and Privately decided to invade Poland and divide the nation between both nations.

    The spark that set of Word War II was when Hitler invaded Poland, and the League of Nations were forced to notice negotiations had not worked and had failed to prevent another war. The Nazi invasion upon Poland signified Hitler disregarding the Munich Pact, and did not keep his promise to stop invading other countries. A few days later, France and Britain declared war against Germany seeing as the Treaty of Versailles was broken and the League of Nations failed to keep the peace.
