Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a peace agreement that ended WW2. It was written by the League of Nations to prevent war from happening again.Treaty of Versailles caused World War 2 because it angered Hitler and many Germans after their lost in World War 1 because the treaty forced Germany to pay large war reparations, and land was also taken away from Germany. -
Hitler Takes Control of Germany
As Hitler takes control of Germany in 1933, he started to rebuild the German army and navy. Everyone in Germany praised Hitler because they thought that he will fix everything that happened and he will take them out of their depression. Hitler promised the Germans that he will bring nationalism back to German. He also promised them the freedom from the Treaty of Versailles. -
Invasion of the Rhineland
Hitler invaded Rhineland to rebuild Germany's economy. Hitler violated the Treaty of Versailles as he invaded Rhineland because he sent Nazi troops into Rhineland. Although Hitler violated the treaty, the British did not want to cause a problem with Hitler. Instead, they resolved the problem with a new policy called appeasement (giving someone what they want to keep peace). -
Invasion of Czechoslovakia
Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia and demanded that the Czech government surrender to Germany. The Czechoslovakia government were ready and prepared to fight with Hitler and the Nazis. However, the League of Nations chose to negotiate rather than to fight them. They were able to keep the peace. -
Anschluss
The Anschluss was when Hitler added Austria his German empire. The Nazi army invaded Austria and forced them to surrender to German control. -
Munich Pact
The Munich Pact was when Britain and France made an agreement to appease Hitler to avoid staring a war and invading other countries. Both Britain and France agreed to surrender Czechoslovakia to Hitler on return for his promise to immediately stop invading other European countries. However, Hitler broke the promise and he started invading other countries. -
Nazi-Soviet Pact
The Nazi-Soviet Pact was when Hitler and Stalin agreed not to invade each others countries. They also agreed to invade and divide up the nation of Poland between them. Poland was home for millions of jews. -
Invasion of Poland/start of WW
As Hitler invades Poland, the League of Nations failed to keep the peace because they realized that negotiation and the Munich Pact had Filed. Hitler did not keep his promise to stop invading European countries. The invasion of Poland caused World War 2 to start because Britain and France declared war on Germany by breaking the Treaty of Versailles. Which shows that the league of Nations effort to keep the peace in Europe did not work and it failed.
