    Before Thomas Kuhn published his famous novel The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, he made studies in the history of astronomy that impacted science greatly. He began his studies of astronomy when he was teaching at Harvard back in 1956. Currently Harvard had him teaching a science class to undergraduates to meet their General Education in Science (Bird, 2018).

    Thomas Kuhn was promoted to a full professor to teach at the University of California at Berkeley in 1961 (Bird, 2018). He first began working at the university back in 1956 so he could take on role in teaching the history of science in the philosophical view. The promotion to professor was the steppingstone that led Kuhn to become one the most famous American philosophers in the twentieth century.

    In the year 1962, Thomas Kuhn published one of his most cited academic books to this date (Bird, 2018). Kuhn named his influential book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. This book raised so much interest because it took spoke about scientific revolutions in a different perspective that no one had seen before during that time. For example, Kuhn explained that all the scientific experimentation and knowledge are known as paradigms.

    Years after Thomas Kuhn published his famous scientific novel The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, he made a book that included all his previous essays on the history and philosophy of science named The Essential Tension. This book focused on essays that dealt with historiographic and metahistorical studies. Each essay deals with a different subject and purpose, but Kuhn wanted to share his thoughts on some of the science topics he has researched over his time as a philosopher.
