The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a tax on anyone who used paper or bought paper to pay for the British armies in America. Every time paper was used or bought the person had to buy a stamp. The colonists boycotted British goods because of it. -
The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act was to pay for the cost of living for the British soldiers in America. Colonists had to pay for their food and house them. New York refused to follow the Quartering Act in 1776. -
The Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act said that Parliament could make whatever laws they wanted for the American colonies. This was another reason for boycotting British goods. -
The Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts were more taxes on British goods and trade laws which the colonists did not want. Colonists protested and boycotted British goods again. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act was when the East India Company did not have to pay taxes on imported and exported tea but the colonists still did. The colonists boycotted British then dumped all the tea into the Boston harbor.
