The steamboat arrives and it's a Southern boat thats very nice compared to the North's. Everyone in Grand Tower noticed its elegant wallpapers, and silken materials. -
Delphine and Calinda come to Grant Tower
On a boat these two sisters show up in Grand Tower and nobody knows who they are. Mama, Tilly, and Noah meet Calinda and Delphine who end up staying at the Pruitt's house. -
Cass thinks that Calinda is going to hurt Delphine
Cass has a vision that Calinda is going to hurt Delphine when what actully is happening is Calinda is helping her put on a thin layer of clothing that goes under the beautiful dress she is going to wear. -
Tilly and Delphine go shopping
Tilly and Delphine go shopping and Delphine and her go into Curry's office and he leaves a note saying he's gone off to fight in the war and he left them his spelling bee awards in memory. -
Delphine gives Mama the Dress
Delphine ends up giving Mama her beautiful dress as a gift because she really likes it. Mama stores the dress in the death drawer upstairs. -
Delphine Sells Candy to the Steamboats the Arrive in Grand Tower
To make money whenever a new steamboat came into Grand Tower Delphine ran down and sold prawleens to the people. -
Calinda Dances With a Black Man at the Show
Calinda ends up being a fabulous dancer and her reall name is CoinCoin, but they call her Calinda because she dances the Calinda way better than everybody else. -
Mama, Noah, Tilly, and Calinda go to a show on the Steamboat
They all go on the steamboat to see a show and at the end they invite people up to dance. Noach asks Delphine and Calinda gets asked by a black guy in the band. -
Noah goes off to War
Noah leaves his family and goes off to war to fight for the North, which disappoints Mama. -
Mama Flips Out
Tilly hears a noise and she goes to find Mama in the kitchen and she is going crazy because her son Noah has gone off to war. She yells at Tilly and tells her shes less important than him and she needs to go find him and bring him home not matter what. -
Finding Noah
Tilly and Delphine finally fine Noah and he's in a lot of pain. The tow girls treat the boys extra nice. They take care of him and others to get the healthy again so they could fight again. Delphine doesn't really want to help Noah because she likes him and wants him to come home instead of him going back to war. -
Noah Loses His Arm
Noah gets all better and goes off to fight the South and ends up hurting his arm and needs it amputated off. He loses his arm and then is barely well enough to make the journey home. -
Resolution
In the story the resolution isn't actually happy. In fact, Noah is fighting his own father. He ended up fighting for the North and was killed and sent back to Mama and she thought it was Noah is the cascet not her husband. She doesn't even bother to look and kills herself in the river. -
Lincoln's Inauguration
Lincoln's inauguration took place. Taney adminastered the presidential oath of office to the President. He became the 16th President of the United States and he knew what the people actually needed. -

The first shots of the U.S. Civil War was at Fort Sumter. -
The Battle of Bull Run
The union army led by Irvin McDowell marched from Washington against the Confederate army. Fighting all day the Confederate side was forced back the Henry Hills. -
The Battle of Belmont
Confederate forces under Major General Leonidas Polk occupied Columbus, KY. The Confederate position at Columbus was quickly fortified and soon mounted a large number of heavy guns which commanded the river.
