    Pink Dot SG is an annual, non-profit, free-for-all event which started in 2009, in support of the LGBT community in Singapore. Attendees of the Pink Dot events gather to form a pink dot in show of support for inclusiveness, diversity and the freedom to love. It was Singapore's first public event which supports LGBT and had the greatest turnout for a gathering at Speakers' Corner in Hong Lim Park since its inception. This event was a milestone for Singapore's LGBT community.

    Repeal of Internal Security Act (ISA)
    The ISA was passed in 1960 which allowed the govt to arrest individuals suspected of threatening the country’s security without warrant and detain them indefinitely without trial. PM Lee Hsien Loong stated that Sg would "seriously consider" abolishing its ISA if Malaysia were to do so in 1991. 16 former detainees responded with a petition demanding an end to the act. Political detainees have been imprisoned for up to 26 years, far longer than the 30 days permitted by the act.

    URA(Urban Redevelopment Authority) says Bukit Brown is needed for future housing, and that many such 'difficult trade-off decisions' are made in land-scarce Singapore. Sept 13: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announces a new four-lane dual carriageway to be built by 2016 to ease congestion. Oct 19: The Straits Times publishes a letter by descendants of famous pioneers, including Chew Boon Lay and Tan Tock Seng, who want Bukit Brown left alone.

    The protest, organised by Han Hui Hui, called for greater transparency in the CPF system, an increase in CPF returns, as well as greater flexibility with the CPF system. A petition was organised both online and offline. The protest comes on the heels of the defamation saga between Roy Ngerng and PM Lee. Chee Soon Juan wrote that the original intent of the CPF scheme had been betrayed as it is now used for housing payments, medical expenses and investment schemes instead of retirement.

    Artists Call To All to Reject MDA's Self-Censorship Scheme
    Over 10 local artists have come together in a video that encourages Singaporeans to reject the MDA proposed Arts Term Licensing Scheme where production groups will be divided into 2 tiers of supposed self-classification. "It's like they're training someone from within the group to be the policeman who makes sure artists follow a guideline set by them and artist can't have any say in it."/"when the arts groups are found guilty of misclassifying their work, they will be fined up to $5000."

    Ever since the news broke about the NLB pulling out the books such as And Tango Makes Three because of complaints from members of the We Are Against Pinkdot in Singapore Facebook group, social media has been buzzing like mad with the spread of the penguin meme and also some strong reactions, including from Singapore writers Novelist/playwright Ovidia Yu announced her resignation from the Singapore Writers’ Festival steering committee, citing the NLB being a programme partner as the reason.
