Reign of Jayavarman VII
Jayavarman VII continued war against the Champa for twenty-two years. He also conqured much of its land. Jayavarman VII was a follower of Mahayan a Buddhism and made this the new religion for the state. nder his reign the Khmers built many hospitals, roads, rest-houses for travellers and traders and temples including the Angkor Thom and its Bayon Temple. -

After Jayavarman's VII Death
After Jayavarman's death no other temples were built and the Khmers lost much of the territory that they had conqured from the Champa. -

Reign of Jayavarman VIII
While Jayavarman VIII was in reign he returned to Hinduism and converted many of the Buddhist temples to Hindu temples. Also during his reign the Khmer empire was threatened by a much more powerful empire to its north. -
