  • Stamp Act

    Tax on paper products and stamps. *This act was one of the acts that was created because of the debts that the French and Indian War created.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This Act imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. The patriots/ Americans viewed the taxation as an abuse of power Parliament repealed all the Townshend duties except for the tax on tea.

    The Intolerable Acts was the Patriots' name for a series of laws passed by the British Parliament after the Boston Tea party. They were meant to punish the colonists for their defiance in throwing a tea shipment into Boston harbor.

    The Boston Tea Party was an act of the rebels who were tired of the taxation of the red-coats. They decided to go to the Harbor of Boston and they dumped tea into the harbor.

    In the June of 1775 American troops ovvuped two hills North of Boston; The battle is almost two battles known as one the battles are cak Breeds Hill and Bunker Hill. The Americans launched three assalts on the British, they later captured Breeds Hilll and Bunker Hill.

    The petition was a way to leave the authority of the British. They were telling the king of Britian that they were leaving their authority and were not going to settle for their rules and taxes any longer. This Petition led up to the 2nd Continental.

    Gathered on May 1775, it offeed New Delegates Ben Franklin, John Hancock, and Thomas Jefferson. The Americans were divided in that some leaned toward independence, others toward compromise which meant more colonial self-rule.

    The Common Sense was published to talk about both levels of the Revolution, he wroteit in Simply Direct Style written so every man could understand his writings.
  • Declaration of independence

    The Decleration of Inpendence was written by Thomas Jefferson, the ideas were based on the era of enlightment. The Decleration states reasons that there should be independencde in all of the colonies and why the action is justified. It is divided into four parts. The decleration is basically a list of rights, and complaints that they had agianst the king, and states the revolution of their independence that they deserved.

    The Battle of Trenton was one of the most remarkable Battles. Why? It was a very thought out Battle on George Washington's part. On Christmas the young general crossed the icy river which takes the British by suprise. The battle got its name because the British were camping at Trinton.
  • Battle at Saragota

    Battle at Saragota
    This Battle was fought in the fall eighteen days apart. The British general Burgoyne won over the Americans. This was the turning point of the Revolution.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Washington's troops joined Lagayette's troops, Britian's General (Cornwallis) is left to face an army twice the size of his own army. Cornwallis surrenders (unable to escape the Battle) to George Washington.
  • Treaty of Paris

    This treaty ended the Revolutionary War. This was practically (although it is not known as) a World War. Why? Great Britian, Spain, France and the United States were involved in this War. As the Spanish still owned land beneath the new Country America they built a boundary which was established around the Mississippi River which led to the Spanish territory.
