She was a lady in waiting, and was permitted to apprentice as a painter. She painter her stages of life. When looking at this painting, you can see the closeness she has with her family, family seem to be important to her. She was known for executing more self portraits than another doing this era in which it can seen in museums around the world.

She was the breadwinner for her family. She is know to painted women, religious, and mytholgical scenes. She was elected into Accademia de San Luca in Rome and received many honers in her lifetime. You can see she was not afraid to paint the essence of a woman while she was getting dressed for the day.
