Carter and Sadie's mom died when Carter was 8 and when Sadie was 6. They are now 14 and 12 years old. Carter has thick, dark, curly brown hair, and coffee colored skin. • My thinking

Thinking: While reading this section my thoughts were "This is crazy! yet it was so interesting" the author did a good job of capavating the reader.
  • Event #2 The House of Life

Event #2 The House of Life
The House of Life is a egyptian orginization that teaches and protects the Magicians. The House of Life doesn't believe in using the power the gods use. They believe that the god's power is evil The House doesn't like the Kane family because they have done things in the past that they don't believe in. With Julius Kane trying to bring back his wife, and setting the gods free the House of Life wants to capture the kids. The House of Life succeeds at capturing the kids.
  • Event #3- Set

    Event #3- Set
Earlier I mentioned how Dr. Julius released good and bad gods. Well the villian in this story is Set. He plans on making the world evil, with the help of his friend The Face of Horror, and yes that is his real name in the book. The kids only have a week to strengthen their magic and defeat Set. Set keeps entering Carter and Sadie's dream, and showing them what is going to happen when the world becomes evil. My Thinking: When I was reading I was thinking " Really what kind of name is that?"
  • Event #4- Meet Bast

    Event #4- Meet Bast
When the kids get to their uncle Amos's house they are greeted by a cat and a Baboon. The Baboon's name is Khufu, he is a butler. The cat is a family pet. Uncle Amos goes on a trip to help a friend and leaves the kids with Khufu. While he is gone the House of Life takes it's chance to capture the kids. Their uncle tells the kids that the cat will protect them. Well as it happends the House ambushes them and the cat turns into a cat-woman. Really she is the cat god Bast.
  • My Thinking

I was thinking during this part that that was a bold move on the part of the house, and WHAT A CAT GOD!?
  • My Thinking

This is on one the most powerful parts in the book. When I was reading this I was "YEA GO KICK ZIA'S BUTT!!!!!!!"
  • Event #5- meet the Zia and Desjardins

Event #5- meet the Zia and Desjardins
In this section Carter and Sadie meet Zia and Desjardins, two very important people in the House of Life. Desjardins is the head of the house and the most powerful magicain. Everybody in the House wants the Kane kids dead because they are hosting the gods Isis and Horus. Desjardins however isn't to quick to make harsh decisions, he lets the kids live and have Zia train them. When Zia is training them Horus helps Carter in his training making him stronger, the same thing happends with Sadie.
  • Event #6-Set the evil

    Event #6-Set the evil
After training with Zia the kids are stronger and now can harness the power of the gods without hurting themselves. Even though they are not completely ready to fight Set to save the world and save their dad they have to go on the road and do it anyway. Along the way they have to fight many monsters that Set planed for them to be tired and exausted. My Thinking: When reading this I hoped that they wouldn't be tired like Set wanted
  • Climax #1- Meeting set

    Climax #1- Meeting set
The kids, Amos, Bast, and Zia get to the mountain that Set is in. When they get there of course Set had made plans already to keep them out. He set traps for them. To get to Set they have to fight the demons. When they finally get to Set he has their father sarcoughagus next to him. In order to save their father they have to not only have to defeat Set, they also have to negotiate with him. Thinking: When reading this I was thinking how are they going to negotiate with Set?
  • Climax #2- Defeating Set

    Climax #2- Defeating Set
When fighting Set, Horus and Isis take over Carter and Sadie. Helping them win the battle. Only to find out Zia was also hosting a god, Nymphes, this was a shock to everybody. In the end they end up defeating Set, getting their father back, and helping Zia learn her powers. Thinking: WHAT!?, well played author, well played
  • Resolution- learning and expanding

    Resolution- learning and expanding
When they defeated Set and got their dad back he explained what he was trying to do, what went wrong, and what they are and how to control the gods inside them. Thinking: This was a nice ending.
  • Recomedations

I would rocomend this to a friend. It was a very good book. The author took a topic not talked about much and just ran with it.
