In reality, she did share her husband's interests of defeating Duncan but she wasn't nearly as cruel as in Shakespeares version of Macbeth. -

In 1054 assisted by English and Northumbrian troops, Malcolm went to Birnam, which is near Dunkeld. He then defeated Macbeth's troops at the "Battle of the Seven Sleepers". Macbeth fled and Malcolm then pronounced himself king.
Many didn't like Malcolm and pronounced Lulach (Macbeth's stepson) as king. -

Macbeth was killed in battle by Malcolm, Duncan's son. Macbeth ran into Malcolm in two battles after he became king and he was only successful his second time. Malcolm killed Macbeth at the battle at Dunsinane in Aberdeenshir.
