Charlie's parents had both experienced physical abuse at some point in their lives and they took appropriate steps to protect their daughter - even though she secretly continued the relationship. -
Charlie meets Sam and Patrick
Things turn around for Charlie when he meets seniors Sam and Patrick, who take him under their wing. -

All of Charlie's friends are in a school play and he attends to watch them. -
