  • The Friday Before Palm Sunday

    Jesus arrives in Bethany and stays with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.

    Jesus and his disciples rested on the Sabbath.
  • Palm Sunday

    Palm Sunday
    Jesus made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem
    He wept over Jeruselem and predicted her downfall.
    He visited the temple briefly.
    After all this, he returned to Bethany for the night.
  • The Monday before Good Friday

    On the way back to Jerusalem, Jesus cursed the fig tree.
    Upon his second arrival, he cleared the temple of the money changers.
    He was visited by a few Greeks.
    He spoke about the necessity of his being lifted up.
    He returned to Bethany for the night.
  • The Tuesday before Good Friday

    On the road back to Jerusalem, the disciples saw the withered fig tree from the day before. Jesus then taught about the power of prayer.
    Jesus was questioned by the Chief Priests.
    He then told three parables.
    The Pharisees and Sadducees questioned him again.
    Jesus and his disciples witnessed the offering of the poor widow.
    Jesus then spoke of events that would occur in the future: the destruction of the temple and the second coming.
  • The Wednesday Before Good Friday

    The Bible records nothing about this day. Scholars have speculated that Jesus spent this day preaching.
  • Maundy Thursday

    Maundy Thursday
    After preparing for the Passover, Jesus began the celebration by washing the feet of his disciples.
    He then instituted the Lord's Supper during the Passover meal.
    After the meal, they left for the garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives.
    After again predicting Peter's betrayal, Jesus prayed three times in great anguish.
  • The Morning of Good Friday.

    Jesus was arrested sometime around midnight and underwent three seperate trials.
    During these trials, Peter denied Jesus three times.
    Judas, believing that he had committed the unforgivable sin, committed suicide.
    Jesus underwent a fourth trial before Pilate, a fifth before Herod, and a sixth and final before Pilate at approximately 6 in the morning.
  • The Crucifixtion

    The Crucifixtion
    Jesus was led to Golgotha to be crucified, where he was placed between two criminals.
    His garments were divided among the guards and those passing by mocked him.
    Jesus forgave the repentant criminal and told John, a disciple, to care for his mother.
    There was darkness for three hours (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.)
    "It is Finished."
  • The Aftermath

    The veil in the temple was torn in two.
    There was a great earthquake and tombs opened, allowing the dead to walk among the people and preach.
    One soldier pierced Jesus' side, bringing about a flow of blood and water.
    Jesus was taken down and buried by Joseph and Nicodemus.
    The tomb was sealed and guards were stationed outside.
  • The Saturday After Good Friday

    Nothing is said of the Saturday following Good Friday.
  • Easter Sunday

    Easter Sunday
    The women visited the tomb early in the morning, only to be told by angels that Jesus had risen.
    Peter and John, excited by the news brought by the women, went to see the empty tomb.
    Jesus appeared to many people, including Mary Magdalene, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and Peter.
