She had worked in one of the machine shops for over a year. She was going to be promoted into a leading operator-head of a small group of girls. -
Eva was discharged by Birling and Co.
After she came back from her holidays in August, she and her partners of work demanded highest rates of pay. They were averaging about twenty-two and six and they were asking for about twenty-five shillings a week. Owning to their demands were refused, they went on strike in which Eva was one of the leaders. As a result of this, Arthur Birling told Eva to clear out. -
Eva's troke of luck
After two months, with no work, no money coming in, and living in lodgings, lonely, half-starves, she was feeling desperate. But suddenly she has a stroke of luck, she was taken on in a good shop called Milwards.
Milwards was a store where Sheila Birling and her mother went shopping habitually. But everything changed to Eva went Sheila entered to buy a new dress. -
Eva to Daisy Renton
Sheila was shopping and trying on dresses but her chosen dress didn't suit her. It made her felt distress because of her insecurity. Eva brought up the dress and Sheila caught her smiling at the assistant. Sheila complained if Eva wasn't fired they would never shop there again. At the end of January, when Eva felt she was settling down, she was fired due to a customer complained. she decided she might as well try another kind of life so she changed her name to Daisy Renton. -
Daisy and Gerald's affair
Daisy Renton met Gerald Croft at the Palace Variety Theatre. When they met again two nights later, Gerald realized that she didn´t have money and she was going to be turned out of the lodgings. Therefore, he insisted her on moving into a friend's rooms that were left to his care. She became his mistress. Gerald became the most important person in her life. -
The affair was broken off.
In the first week of September, Gerald had to go away for several weeks, they broke off before he went. As a result, Eva had to move out of those rooms. Gerald gave ger enough money to see through to the end of the year. -
Eric and Eva's pregnancy
One night of November, Eva met Eric in the Palace bar. He slept with her and they embarked on a short casual relationship. She got pregnant. Eric supported her with stolen money until she refused to take any more to protect him. -
Mrs Birling
Eva appealed to Mrs Birling organization for help, calling herself Mrs Birling. Despite of Mrs. Birling knew that Eva was pregnant and the child’s father was stealing to give her money. Mrs Birling thought she was impertinent and convinced the others on the board to reject her case. -
Eva's suicide
Eva took her own life by drinking disinfectant.
