The Odyssey Timeline

Ithaca

1178 BCE

Odysseus is finally back home and is greeted by Athena who is first appeared as a young man. Then she turns Odysseus into disguise as a old man so no one could recognise him. Finally Odysseus gets to see his son and tell him it's really him and they both create a plan to take down the suitors that are trying to marry his wife.Odysseus finally reveals who he is and fights and kill the suitors. Once done with that he finally reveals its really him to his wife penelope.

Phaeacians

1176 BCE

Odysseus finally heading to Phaeacia almost to Ithaca Poseidon sends trouble towards him because he is still mad at him. And finally Odysseus is washed up shore on Phaeacia and is found by the daughter of Alcinous. They Bathed, Clothed, and fed him. Odysseus then tells them who he is and his journey back to ithaca . After hearing his story Alcinous gave Odysseus a ship to go back home in.

Calypso

1169 BCE

Then he reaches Calypso in which she falls in love with Odysseus and won't let him leave for seven years. While there Athena begs her father Zeus to tell Calypso to let Odysseus free in which she does but not before telling him she could give him immortality if he stays to which he rejects because he justs want's to go home

Helios

1168 BCE

Next there were at Helios island (the sun god). Odysseus told his men not to eat any of the cattle that was on the island. After Odysseus had prayed and fell asleep. His men was starving to death and decided to disobey Odysseus and kill and eat the cattle. Helios then Told Zeus to punish them or he will not give earth any sun so Zeus did what he was told and struck a lighting bolt through there only boat and killed all the men except for Odysseus since he didn't do anything.

Scylla and Charybdis

1167 BCE

Now Odysseus has to pass a whirlpool named Chardbyis and a six headed monster named Scylla. They go near Scylla Odysseus risking the lives of his men and not telling them whats about to happen. Scylla ended up eating six more of his men. Then they move next to Scylla rock so Odysseus can hang onto a fig tree and wait for Chardbyis to spit up his boat.

Sirens

1166 BCE

Now Odysseus is almost near the island where the Sirens stay which Circe warned him about saying how they lure men in by their song. So he told his men to stuff their ears with wax and tie only him up with no wax so he could be more stronger.

UnderWorld

1165 BCE

Once it was the end of the year Odysseus and his men was finally getting ready to go Circe stated they should go to the Underworld. He has to kill someone in order to meet Tiresia. Tiresia then told Odysseus what is happening back home and what he has to do

Circe

1164 BCE

Now on Circe island (Aeaea) Odysseus split his men into groups to scope the island out that had Eurylochus with them. The group met Circe and she welcomed her inside her home but, Eurylochus stayed outside just incase. While inside Circe put a drug in there drinks so they wont remember wheres their home and then turned them into pigs. Hermes and Eurylochus warned and told Odysseus what happened. Odysseus finally met circe and tried to attack her in which she fell in love having them stay a year.

Laestrygonians

1163 BCE

While on the water They stumbled upon Laestrygonians which villagers are cannibals. Odysseus sent some of his men to see who lived on the island then they met a little girl who in which took to her home she showed them her mother and they were disgusted then the mother called out her husband so they can make a meal out of the men. Two of the men tried to run away but sadly was eaten by the villagers who destroyed eleven of odysseus ships.

Island of Aeolia

1162 BCE

The next stop Odysseus and his men went to was The Land of Aeolia ( God of the Wind). Aeolia welcomed Odysseus and his men kind heartedly and let them stay there for a month. Once the month ended Aeolia gave Odysseus a bag of wind. On the ship for the first 9th days odysseus used the wind to stir them to ithaca. But, sadly on the 10th day odysseus fell asleep and his men open the bag of wind thinking there was treasures and all the wind came out. And now Aeolia won't help them again.

Cyclops (Polyphemus)

1161 BCE

After leaving the lotus island they stumbled upon a cyclops island. Odysseus and his 12 men enter the cyclops (which was polyphemus son of Poseidon) cave because they was a lot of food and drink. Polyphemus ate 6 of Odysseus men. The next morning Odysseus and the rest of his men fled the cave by hiding under the sheep's belly. Then while on the boat Odysseus announced his real name after injuring Polyphemus eye. Which led for their trip back home even longer.

Cythera (The Lotus Eaters)

1160 BCE

On the tenth day of odysseus and his men journey back home they stumbled upon a island where Lotus Eaters live. After the men ate and drinked something Odysseus sent two of his men and a third one to be the messenger to see who are the Lotus eating people. When the three men met the Lotus Eaters they offered the three men the fruit which can make you have the desire to not go and without giving back word to odysseus. So Odysseus forced them onto the boats so they can leave.

Ismarus, The land of the Cicones

1150 BCE

On his way trying to get home on sea with twelve ships following a powerful wind pushed Odysseus and his men to Ismarus. While in The land of Cicones Odysseus and his men killed many people, and captured their treasures. After dividing the treasures Odysseus stated they should start walking but, his men didn't listen and got too drunk and killed many sheep and cows. While Odysseus men was asleep The Cicones villagers killed six people from each of the ships they sailed in.

Troy

1148 BCE

In the beginning of the story Odysseus is seen to be trying to leave Troy after having fought in Trojan War. Which lasted for a total of 10 years. While in Troy Odysseus came up with a plan to look like they were leaving then sent over a big wooden horse for the trojans for their victory but really Odysseus and his men was inside the wooden horse waiting to attack.
