    Matilde is a young woman that has an internal conflict about her place in society. she is a middle-class woman but wants to be wealthy, she has a husband but she just wishes she was higher in class.
  • Rising Action

    Matilde's husband "Mons Loisel" was invited to a big high-class party but Matilde wasn't excited as she had nothing to wear and felt too below class to go, so Mons Loisel gives her his saving so she can buy a beautiful dress. Except Matilde was complaining because she didn't have enough for jewelry, Mons Loisel suggested she borrowed some so she went to her high-class friend Madame forester for a necklace.
  • Climax

    Matilde had got what she thought was this amazing diamond necklace and went to the party looking beautiful. After a while she realizes she has lost the necklace. Matilde and Mons Loisel searched everywhere for the necklace yet they couldn't find it. There was only one thing they could do. Mons Loisel took money out of his father's inheritance that had also put them in debt to buy a brand new diamond necklace.
  • Conflict

    Matilde gave back Madame Forrester the necklace and she didn't even look at it before putting it away. Matilde and her husband both had to work extra hard meaning Matilde was to get a job and Mons Loisel had to get 2. They lived day in day out working and working until they were out of dept.
  • Falling Action

    10 years later the debt was all paid off. Matilde was worn and felt a whole lot older than what she used to. She had aged very fast and wasn't very happy. one day Matilde bumps into Madame Forrester down the street.
  • Resolution

    Matilde began talking to Madame Forrester and decides to tell her about the necklace. Madame is shocked and explains to Matilde that the necklace she gave her was fake and was not expensive.
