    Napoleon overthrows the corrupt directory. Napoleon being a major leader of the coup, was given the role of 1st console in the new consulate government. He would later marginalize the other 2 consulates and take the powers of a dictator. Political reform.

    A plebiscite was held to approve the new french constitution of 1800. This constitution gave napoleon the powers of a dictator, and marginalized the other 2 consuls. Political achievement.

    Napoleon founds the Banque De France to reestablish/grow the economy. It was in a bad spot from war debt from the american and french revolutions. Economic reform.

    Napoleon and Pope Pius XVII sign a concordat. This is an agreement between the government and the church. Made it so the people would not be punished religiously for stealing land from the clergy during the french revolution. Social reform.

    As a result of war, Britain, Austria and Russia all signed peace treaties with france. First time in 10 years that Europe had seen peace. Military Achievement.

    The Louisiana Purchase
    Napoleon sells french land in north america that included Louisiana for 15 million dollars. This will reestablish the economy of france after being in debt from the american revolution and the french revolution. Economic success.
  • The Napoleonic Code

    The Napoleonic Code
    This took all of the laws of the different cities and cultivated all of the best laws and got rid of all the badd or repetitive laws. This resulted in the new uniform set of laws of France. This also abolished feudalism.

    Napoleon crowns himself emperor. Napoleon invites pope Pius XVII to crown Napoleon emperor. But Napoleon ends up taking the crown from the pope and putting it on his own head. Political reform.

    Napoleon defeats the austrian army in the city of Ulm. This results in the austrians signing the treaty of Pressburg. Military victory.

    The battle of Jena was easily won by napoleon. The prussians were forced into signing the treaty of Tilsit. Military victory.

    The Battle of Somosierra (somosa)
    Part of the peninsular war. It resulted from a spanish uprising to overthrow napoleon's brother, Joseph Bonaparte whom Napoleon had named the new ruler of spain. This led to the recapture of madrid which was an important staging ground for napoleon's operations in spain.
  • The 100 Days

    The 100 Days
    Napoleon escapes his exile the Isle of Elba and returns to power with the help of his former soldiers. He then makes liberal changes to the constitution to get more important figures to support his return. Military victory.
