One of the most famous leaders of the Ottoman Empire was Suleiman. He was also known as '' The Magnificent. '' Under his rule the empire was at its peak. He ascended to the throne in 1520. -

After Suleiman's death, the Ottoman Empire faced increased pressure from Western Europe, and they also suffered from poor leadership. By the 20th century, the Ottoman Empire was weak. -
Sultan Mehmed V
He was the last sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He made the decision to side with Germany and Italy against the European powers and the United States. Their side lost the war and as a result, the Ottoman Empire was overthrown. -
The Fall of the Ottoman Empire

San Remo Agreement
The treaty was announced in 1920. This treaty defined new boundaries, and broke up the Ottoman Empire into smaller countries. As a result of the treaty, France established new countries. Britain established new countries also. -
Nationalism is destroyed in the newly formed countries
The new boundaries paid little attention to the ethnic and religious groups who were already living in these areas. As a result, there was lots of conflict.
