  • The Little Dancing Queen

    The Little Dancing Queen
    This year she turned three. She really wanted to attend ballet class. The next week she was enrolled! This displays Erickson's second stage, autonomy vs. shame and doubt. This is about independence and allowing for personal creativity (autonomy), as opposed to restraining the child and showing them that their desires are not worthy of attention.
  • Guedea Girls

    Guedea Girls
    Gabriela was in love with beading. Our house was over flowing with beads after Christmas and she decided to start her own business. After mom got a new job she needed a lanyard and Gabi began creating beaded lanyards. Erickson's third stage initiative vs. guilt. This crisis was met by showing thoroughness in plans of purposeful beading (initiative). Discouraging the start up of the business would have caused feelings of guilt.
  • Straight A

    Straight A
    This year she entered 6th grade. She is always excited to attend school and is a stellar student. Ericsson's fourth stage, industry vs. inferiority. This crisis is between feeling like you are understanding what is being taught and excelling with societal norms (industry). Not understanding what is expected creates inferiority.
  • Tennis time

    Tennis time
    This year is the first year she has decided to engage in sports, or any school activity. She has enjoyed in and has been winning every match. Erickson's fourth stage, Identity vs. Identity confusion. This crisis of exploring your capacities as an individual and finding your individual niche in society (identity), as opposed to not knowing who you are or what person you want to be would create feeling of identity confusion.
