Drake circumnavigates the globe on the ship the Pelican with 164 other men and four other ships. He was supposed to reach the Pacific coast of the Americas as ordered by Elizabeth I, but after many setbacks he ended up crossing through the Strait of Magellan and circumnavigating the globe.
