The Uses of Agument
Toulmin's book brought to light the flaws of traditional logic.Looked at as anti-logic by Toulmin's fellow philosophers, the book had a substatial amount of positive feedback in the United States where he went to spend the rest of his teaching career at several schools, along with a year of teaching in Australia. -
Toulmin vs Kuhn
Toulmin wrote Foresight and Understanding: An Enquiry into the Aims of Science which was argued against Kuhn's theory: Structure of Science. In Human Understanding: Volume 1 (1972), Taulmin's work was put up against Kuhn's "revolutionary science" , it never was argued after that. -
Moved to the United States
After received multiple degrees in England, Toulmin spent the rest of his life in a series of professorships at American universities, including Columbia, Stanford, Chicago, Brandeis and Santa Cruz.
