Pablo Neruda was born on July 12th, 1904 in the town of Parral, Chile. Pablo Neruda's real name is Neftalí Ricardo Reyes Basoalto. His mother died not too long after birth. -

Pablo's Mother, Rosa Neftali Basoalto, dies of tuburculosis. Pablo's father, Jose' del Carmen Reyes, evencually remarries to, Dona Trinidad Candia Malverde. -

Early Poetic Life
At the age of thirteen he began to write articles to be published in the La Manana, the town paper. His first publication was the Entusiasmo y Perseverancia. (enthusiasm and perservereance) This was his first poem. -

In 1920, he became a contributor to the literary journal "Selva Austral" he used the pen name Pablo Neruda. His pen name in memory of a Czechoslovakian Poet who had a similar name. -

Pablo starts to sign his work. Pablo is president of the Athenaeum Literary of the Lyceum of Temuco and deputy secretary of the Student Association of Cautín. -

Pablo wins the first prize place for Temuco's spring festival in poetry. This is just the beginning of his passionate carrier. -
Graduation
Pablo grauated from Temuco High School. Temuco Men's Lyceum, gave Pablo a degree in humanities, which allows him to take the high school. -
French
Pablo enrolled at the Educational Institute of the University of Chile in Santiago to study education in French so he could read poems in French. -

Death
Pablo Neruda died at 22:30 in the Santa Maria Clinic in Santiago. He was veiled in his house in Santiago, Chile which had been violated by supporters of the government. Neruda was 69 years old when he died. he was a very wonderful poet.
