Birth
Nancy Cartwright is currently a Professor of Philosophy at the University of California as well as the University of Durham. She was born in Pennsylvania on January 24th 1944. -
Education
In 1966 Nancy received her Bachelors of Science Degree from The University of Pittsburgh. Her degree was in Mathematics. -
Quantum Mechanics
In 1970 Cartwright started her work in the research of Quantum Mechanics. Her work in this field opened up many opportunities for other women in this field. -
Continuous education
In 1971 Mrs Cartwright obtained her Ph.D. form the University of Illinois. Following this degree she began her work in the field of Philosophy. -
1972
In 1972 Cartwright began to travel to different Universities across the United States states where she taught and educated on the Philosophies of science. -
Establishment
After establishing herself as a philosopher, Cartwright begin publishing her works. In 1983 she published How the Laws of Physics Lie(1983). This publication set the tone for her career to take flight. She will go on to publish many more works.

Marriage
In 1985 Nancy Cartwright married her husband Sir Stuart Hampshire. Hampshire was a philosopher that taught at Oxford University. He was known for giving a new direction to political and moral thought. -

From 1996 to 1999 Cartwright published to other books titled Otto Neurath: Philosophy between Science and Politics and The Dappled World: A Study of the. Boundaries of Science -
Loss
On June 13th 2004 Sir Stuart Hampshire passed away -

In 2012 Nancy Cartwright published her book Evidence of based Policy: A Practical Guide to Doing it Better.

Currently
Currently Nancy Cartwright is till working in the field of Philosophy. She has spent her life work educating and mentoring students across the United States as well as England. She was former president of both the APA ( American Philosophical Association) and the Philosophy of Science Association. She was also given the title of Chair Professor at the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. She is the co director of the Center for Humanities Engaging Science and Society. -
