  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    [Pearl Harbor Attack](www.theatlantic.com/photo/2011/07/world-war-ii-pearl-harbor/100117/) On December 7, 1941 Japanese launched a surprised air attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. After two hours of bombing, 2,400 Americans died, 21 ships damaged, and 188 U.S aircrafts destroyed. The next day the United States declared war with Japan, bringing them into World War II.

    First Colored Televison Show On June 25, 1951 CBS introduced the first colored tv show. The show was called "Premiere." The show consisted of many celebites who hosted their own shows in the 1950s. Unfortunaly, the show only reached four cites and even then almost nobody could watch it on their black and white tvs. Two days later after the show aired CBS began airing the first regularly-scheduled color television series.

    Brown v. Board of Education On May 17, 1954 the court declared that "seprated but equal" public schools for blacks and whites was banned. Even though many schools didn't desegregate right away, it was a big step in the Civil Rights Movement.
  • Disneyland Opens!

    Disneyland Opening On July 17, 1955 Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California. On opening day a few thousand people who were specially invited went. Then the following day it was open for everybody to enjoy. The park included Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fanastyland, and Tomorrowland.

    Peace Sign Gerald Holtom designed the peace sign on Feburary 21, 1958 in Britain. The peace sign was to be used as a symbol against nuclear arms. The peace sign debute was on April 4, 1958 at the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War rally. It was marched from London to Aldermaston.
  • Berlin Wall was built

    Berlin Wall was built
    Berlin Wall The Berlin Wall was built on August 13, 1961. It was built dividing East Berlin and West Germany. The purpose was to keep East Germans from moving to the West. The Berlin Wall also was a symbol of the Cold War. When the wall fell on November 9, 1989 it was celebrated around the world.
  • Malcolm X Assassination

    Malcolm X Assassination
    Assassination of Malcolm X On Feburary 21, 1965 Malcolm X was assassinated. He was shot during a meeting of the Organization of Afro-American Unity at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem, New York. He was shot by three men from the black Muslim group. All the men got arrested and sentenced. Still to this day nobody knows exactly why they shot him, but there are many beliefs and theories about it.

    After Ed passes away Carol and her daughter Tina move back to Milwaukee.

    Elvis Presley On August 16, 1977 Elvis Presley was found dead in his bathroom in Graceland. The cause of his dealth was a drug overdose. Elvis's family tried to cover up his dealth by saying it was a heart attack, but people suspected it was just drugs that made his heart stop.

    First American Woman in Space Sally Ride was the first American women ever in space. Her space shutter launched on June 18, 1983 on the mission STS-7. With her there were two other people. She played a big role. For example, she helped the crew deploy communications satellites, conduct expiriments, and she used the first Shuttle Pallet Satellite.
