Out of the 130 women at the University of Rome she was the only one studying to become a doctor.

This was a very difficult time for her. She was ridiculed by the men in her clesses. She nerly gives up at this time and feels very isolated. She then uses the teasing to empower her and goes on to be the only female doctor in her graduating class and to fight for womens rights.
