Rumford Medal
Tyndall was awarded the Rumford Medal for his researches on the absorption and radiation of heat by gases and vapors -
The Tyndall Effect
The discovery of how light beams scatter when shined through different matter was discovered by Tyndall while at the Royal Institute. This drove the realization of the sky being blue due to how the light from the sun reflected through the atmosphere before reaching Earth. "He discovered water vapor and carbon dioxide absorb more radiant heat than the gases of the atmosphere and argued the consequent importance of those gases in moderating Earth’s climate that is the natural greenhouse effect." -
Married
John married his wife, Louisa Charlotte Tyndall -
