    From July 17 to August 2, 1945, Allied leaders gathered to demand the surrender of Japan and set up a framework for postwar Europe. Each leader was trying to get the strongest position and the most influence for his own country, but the countries fell into two camps. The Potsdam Conference set up a competition between capitalist Western powers (the United States and Great Britain) and the communist-controlled Soviet Union. This rivalry grew into the Cold War.

    The u.s formed Nato in 1949 and the Warsaw pact was formed in may 14 1955.This was all part of the cold war. Meanwhile, NATO changed its membership and its goals following the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. In NATO’s early period, member countries jointly planned, financed, and built infrastructure such as bases, and communication networks. The United States provided the largest share of the funding. In 1950 NATO began to set up an military force in Europe.

The u.s and 15 other allies troops were Sent but south korea was still pushed back more of the peninsula . U.s didnt give up they sent more u.s troops to help pushing back north Korea . North Korea then didn't give up , u.s wanted to put the country back . I they end up joining/ being apart of it and then both end up being divided equally.

    The vietnam war began in 1954 and ned in 1975 when north vietnam won the war . North wanted the countries to reunite but south didn't want that and fought to keep from happening. The united states was able to help the south, but north end up winning the war and soon the two were back together and was back to a communist country. The United States helped South Vietnam, but North Vietnam won the war in 1975. Soon Vietnam was a united, Communist country.

    In 1955 West Germany, the most popular nation of western Europe, was joined to NATO. This woke up the soviet Union which responded by creating the Warsaw Pact, a security alliance made up of the Soviet satellites in eastern Europe. In the warsaw pact soviet wanted a strong Alliance against any other potential military or economic threats from the west Germany. In 1990 The cold war ended , ending everything else. It even disbanded things.

Deal was made to end the standoff even though the cold war was far from older.

The prestorika program ran by the soviet leader Gorbachev decentralized economic controls and encouraged enterprises to become self financing. Meanwhile the glasnost the economy took away people's freedom expression and it gave the media something to publish something. While the perestroika it continued to dominate the system party.
