E=mc2
This was an equation that converted mass to a specific energy output if an atom was split by multiplying the amount of kilograms by the speed of light squared (89,875,517,900,000,000 m^2 / s^2) which would bring you to an energy output in joules (a measurement of energy). This later lead to the creation of the atom bomb when an atom was split and destructive energy would be released. -
The Theory of General Relativity
In 1915, Einstein proposes the Theory of General Relativity that is the geometric theory of gravitation published by Albert Einstein in 1915 and the current description of gravitation in current day physics. General relativity takes the form of field equations, describing the curvature of space-time and the distribution of matter throughout space-time. The effects of matter and space-time on each other are what we perceive as gravity. -
Eclipse Proves General Relativity
A solar eclipse provides dramatic observable evidence that Einstein's General Theory of Relativity is true. Einstein suddenly becomes a worldwide celebrity. -
Nobel Prize
Albert Einstein wins the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the photoelectric effect, first published in 1905. -
Letter to President Roosevelt
Fearing that Nazi scientists might win the race to develop the world's first atomic bombs, Albert Einstein writes a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, urging him to launch an American program of nuclear research. -
