Markram's Early Days
Markram comes from a sporting family. Cricket and soccer were Aiden Markram’s passions ever since he was a kid. There was always a cricket ball at his home to play with. In fact, he was given a cricket kit at the age of 2. -

Under-19 World Cup triumph
At the age of 19, Markram did something which no other South African captain has. In 2014, led the country to the Under-19 World Cup triumph. In fact, he was also the Man of the Series, scoring 370 runs in the tournament at 123.33. If that wasn’t enough, he led the team from the front in the finals, scoring an unbeaten 66, and was the Man of the Match. -
Kagiso Rabada and Andile Phehlukwayo chosen over Aiden Markram
In spite of his achievements in the U-19 World Cup, Kagiso Rabada and Andile Phehlukwayo made the step up to the national side and Markram did not. He had once addressed this saying, “Those guys are real x-factor players – KG and Andile – and I just had to know my time would come.” -
Markram’s Test Debut
After 3 years of wait, Markram received a call from Test side. He was called as cover for du Plessis who missed the first Test against England at Lord s because of the birth of his first child. However, he never received an opportunity to portray his batting skills.
