My little cousin.

My grandmother suffered for years with Alzheimers. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. I was around 8 or 9 when she first developed Alzheimers. It was difficult at that age to watch my own grandmother forget my name and forget that I was her granddaughter. I was 12 at the time of her death.

I lived next door to my great-grandmother's house everyday of my life until her death when I was 17. I was at her house more than my own. She was the one person who let me get away with anything that I wanted. When my parents and I lost our house, Mamaw helped us out and helped buy our groceries so that we wouldn't go hungry. When I was in elementary school, she would help buy all of my school supplies.

Hobo appeared at my house. He was starved and covered with fleas.

This day is the day that changed my life forever. My life will never be the same again. I had no idea how much it would change. This is the day that one of my biggest superheroes- a man that I thought was invincible- died. I will live the rest of life trying to make him proud.
