Bohr

The Life Achievements of Niels Bohr

  • Birth

Niels Bohr was born in Copenhagen in the year 1885.
  • School Years and Education

Bohr preceded to attain his Masters and then his Doctorates in Physics. He attended the University of Copenhagen and graduated from it in 1911.
  • The Bohr Model

While Niels Bohr was still at the University of Copenhagen, he had decided to start researching the atomic structure of nucleus's. While using work from Ernest Rutherford as the support of his theory, Bohr was able to create an atomic model that is very close to what we still use today. It introduced electrons and the orbital shells that would be filled with different energy level electrons.

  • Achievements

After his discovery, Bohr decided to have multiple lectures to try to let everyone know about the importance of his idea. He had lectures held at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, and the Victoria University in Manchester, England. He was also honored with the position of Head of Theoretical Physics at the University of Copenhagen in 1920 until his death in 1962. Lastly his biggest achievement was receiving a Nobel Prize for his work on the Atomic Nucleus (1922).
  • Death

After a long life spent on his theoretical research Niels Bohr died at the age of 77 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
