The Fall of the King
The Thai king attacks and defeats the Khmer king bringing an end to the Empire and its people. -

New Capital City
The Khmers are forced to relocate the capital to Phnom Penh, Cambodia's modern day capital city. -
1431 BCE
The Decline of the Khmer Empire
The Thai army attacks Angkor and later the Khmers are forced to abandon it with its location being forgotten. -
1300 BCE
Buddhism
The Buddhist religion once again grows important and becomes the main religion of the Khmer Kings -
1243 BCE
Jayavarman VIII
With the new king Jayavarman VIII Buddhism was renounced throughout the Khmer Empire and its temples and monuments were destroyed. The main religion changed to Hinduism. -
1219 BCE
Take Over
Jayavarman VII defeats the Cham Kingdom and therefore regains their eastern territory expanding the empire to its fullest extent. -
1177 BCE
Invasion
The Cham Kingdom invades lots of the Khmers eastern territory -

Angkor Wat
The temple of Angkor Wat is built and its precious items are placed in it. -

Indravarman
King Jayavarman III was succeeded by his cousin Indravarman as the devaraja. He further expanded the system of artifical lakes. -

Jayavarman II
The King, Jayavarman II died and his last royal palace was built. -
