The industrial Revolution

  • John Kay

    John Kay
John Kay invented the flying shuttle. The flying shuttle is one of the key developments in the industrialization of weaving during the early Industrial Revolution. An advantage of it is that its easy, smooth and faster to use. If you change warp threads often, as in a small plaid, its hard and isn't entirely smooth.
  • Robert Fulton

    Robert Fulton
Robert Fulton helped invent the steamboat. What he did was he helped advertise/commercialize the boat so people would buy it. The steamboat was used to transport people or maybe goods up a river instead of having to transport it the slower and harder way. An advantage was that it did transport people and they cut travel time by months. A disadvantage was that the steamboats were built poorly and shady operators.
  • James Watt

    James Watt
James Watt invented the Watt Steam engine. The Watt Steam Engine was the first type of steam engine to make use of a separate condenser. An advantage of it is the steam engine can be used to run trains for going from one place to another. A disadvantage of it is that it's very heavy and unsafe to use because it's so hot.
  • Richard Arkwright

    Richard Arkwright
Richard Arkwright Made the water frame.
The water frame is a water-powered spinning frame which was an easy way to create cotton thread. An advantage of the water frame was that it was faster and easier to create cotton thread. A disadvantage is it made coarse yarn.
  • James Hargreaves

    James Hargreaves
James Hargreaves made the spinning jenny. The spinning jenny was used for spinning with more than one spindle at a time
  • Samuel Compton

    Samuel Compton
Samuel Compton invented the Spinning Mule. The spinning mule is a machine used to spin cotton and other fibers similar. An advantage is that it had high delivery speeds and low yarn production costs. A disadvantage is that it had low yarn strength, and if you increase the speed on the spinning mule, cotton can be uneven and weak.
  • George Stephenson

    George Stephenson
George Stephenson created the steam locomotive. A steam locomotive is a train that transports good across the united states. The advantages of it was that indeed did carry goods across railroads. But the disadvantage was that it was slow
  • Richard Trevithick

    Richard Trevithick
Richard Trevithick also invented the steam locomotive, but it was the first locomotive to transport without having to be on a railroad. An advantage is that it was more efficient by running off of anything that burns, and can transport horses. A disadvantage is that the smoke goes into the atmosphere and pollutes it.
  • Henry Bessemer

    Henry Bessemer
Henry Bessemer invented the manufacture of steel. Steel back then and still now was useful because it was a lot better to build buildings with because it made them sturdier. An advantage of steel was that it made it possible to build skyscrapers for the first time which made it a lot better so it didn't waste room. And a disadvantage was that the cost of steel was very expensive.
  • Thomas Edison

    Thomas Edison
Thomas Edison invented the movie camera and multiple other things. The movie camera was build to make plays in a sense, just record it in a high quality, maybe not even high quality. The advantage of it is that you wouldn't have to watch a play or have no audio because it could be pre recorded. A disadvantage is that sometimes the recordings would mess up.
