    In 1994 Amazon.com is created in Seattle, (as Cadabra), allowing people to begin leaving comments on products that they purchase
  • Six Degrees

    The first agreed upon social media platform that allowed both subscribers and non subscribers to instant message as well as the ability to post to community boards
  • Wikipedia saves college students

    Wikipedia, the worlds first online encyclopedia, allows users to look up as well as post and edit information on absolutely anything
  • Launch of Friendster

    Friendster, an online networking site allowed users to connect with other members as well as post media and word messages. the service is no longer active and is awaiting a relaunch as an online gaming site
  • Creation of Linkedin

    Linkedin was the first to use social networking for professional endeavors.
  • Myspace

    Was the largest social media site until 2009, enable users to post blogs, articles and media as well as pictures.
  • Facebook is launched

    Facebook was founded by Harvard students Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes as a way for students to communicate with other students on campus. The service eventually spread to other Ivy League schools and ultimately around the world as it boosts 1.63 users worldwide.

    Yelp allows users to rate their overall satisfaction with their experience at a restaurant, bowling alley, bar, ect. and share it with other users
  • Youtube destroys productivity

    Youtube allows users to post video blogs, videos, (music or otherwise), and other content with anyone with internet access
  • Twitter is founded

    Twitter allows users to share their thoughts in 140 characters or less and lets followers repost, like, or simply read the post called a "tweet"
  • Uber is founded

    Uber started off as a luxury rental car service but has quickly become a neccisty for a night on the town. Users can communicate with the diver, and visa versa, in order to make the ordeal less painful then finding a taxi. Uber uses GPS in their drivers phones to help track the cost of the ride, and was advertised as a way for people to make money on the side.
