    A german physicist invented the first transmitter. It could only send morse code which was petty much like sending text messages over radio.

    marconi invents the radio. It is speculated that he might not of been the first. Although he was the first to get it patented. He sent the first signal and recieved the first signal.
  • audion tube

    the audion tube was basically an amplifier. it was invented in 1906 by lee de forest. It was a vaccum tube that could amplify the radio.
  • first music broad cast

    radios first broadcast had music in it. Music was a part o radio since the beginning. It just kept getting more popular
  • Titanic sinking

    the titanic sunk and sent a signal to be saved. Without the radio they would have all died. But thankfully they were able to send a message for help.
  • first radio station

    KDKA was the first radio staion formed. it was made by frank conrad. it still runs today in pittsburgh.
  • TV

    The tv is invented and beghins to gain momentum. Begins to take people away from radio. It steals advertisements.
  • AM radio

    AM radio transmitter waas created in 1920. It was used mostly to do talk shows and sit coms, or other things were people are talking.
  • First commercial

    WEAF aired the first commercial. It was ten minuttes long and it was about an apartment complex. they were paid 50 dollars for ten minutes.
  • stations grow

    In 1920 there wer just a small amount of radio staions,. And in just two short years their were over 600.
  • uncle charlies

    These were personal radio staions. They had no licensing back then so anyone coul dhave a station. These stations would interfere with other broadcasting signals.
  • FRC

    CReated the frc in 1927. it stopped uncle charlies from continuing. It created an orgnized radio licensing system. it letter became the FCC
  • golden age

    radio boomed in the thirtys and fortys. thiis was due to the great deprresion. during the deprression people saw radio as a way to escape their problems.
  • FM

    Armstrong patented the FM in 1933. FM was used mostly for music on the radio. And helped radio stay on its feet.
  • I POD

    Apple introduced the ipod a device that could save and play music wirelesly. This was very revolutionary becaus eit was so small and it was all digital. MAny people really liked it and how slim it was, so it was very successful.
