Tremor Surgery in 1953
Parkinson's disease comes with a tremor that can make everyday tasks like writing difficult. In 1953, a surgeon accidentally cut the anterior choroidal artery, which is located in the brain, so he tied it back up. Once the patient who had (PD) woke up, they realise that their tremor was gone. Later surgeons use this method to help treat the tremors of (PD) patients. Although, this operation came with a 10% mortality rate.
