Development of Minecraft Starts
-
Period: to
Pre-Classic
This part of Minecraft's history defined Minecraft as we know it today, just alot simpler. -
rd-131648
This is the first stable version of Minecraft. -
rd-131655
This is the first ever version to have a photo of it. -
rd-132328
This version added Steves, then called "Mob" -
rd-132211
In this version, the Minecraft terrain became flat. -
rd-20090515
This version added some new blocks, like wood and dirt. -
rd-160052
In this version, the block particles were added. -
mc-161616
The main change is that pressing Y swaps the mouse Y-axis. -
mc-161607
This was the first Minecraft version starting with "mc" rather than "rd" -
mc-161625
This update fixed textures sometimes not showing and mouse invert issues. -
mc-161648 (Classic 0.0.1a)
The one thing different in this version is that Notch fixed some mouse look issues. Fun Fact: This is the last un-numbered Minecraft version. -
Classic 0.0.2a
This is the first classic version of Minecraft, and it added a version counter, FPS counter, and a big fix. When a key is clicked and the game got blurred without being un-clicked, the game will say that that key is pressed. This still occurs in modern Minecraft, making this the game's oldest bug. -
rd-161348
Cliffs became more common in this version. -
Classic 0.0.3a
This version is known for having a white crash screen while playing on an Auss Eee. -
Classic 0.0.9a
This version lowered the resolution but fixed 2 bugs, but not the white screen bug. This is also the version that added the white overlay to selected blocks. It is unknown why Classic 0.0.4a-8a were not released. -
Period: to
0.0.12a Dev
There are some developmental versions of Classic 0.0.12a, and since that would be alot, I'll just paste a link here. I might add that in the future. https://minecraft.wiki/w/Java_Edition_Classic_0.0.12a/Development -
Period: to
Classic
During this particular stage in the development of Minecraft, many basic features were added to the game. Among these additions, wool stands out as a noteworthy inclusion, expanding the range of available materials and opening up new possibilities for creative expression within the gameplay. -
Classic 0.0.10a
This is the 10th classic version (assuming versions 0.0.4a-8a exsist), adding pause feature (F10 + Esc + Alt) that unhooks the mouse and, as I said before, pauses the game. This version only lasted 4 minites -
Classic 0.0.11a
This version has two types. 0.0.11a, the original, and c0.0.11a, which is an in-development version of Classic 0.0.12a. This was the first public version. All this version did was it fixed an issue with start and destroy functions making the game unplayable. -
Classic 0.0.12a_03
This version not only improved performance (again), but it also fixed a bug where on some graphic cards, it was hard to select blocks (for whatever reason). This was also the version where this Mario was made! -
Classic 0.0.12a_02
This version made nice improvements in terms of performance. -
Classic 0.0.12a
In this version, bedrock (then called "unbreakeble stone"), water and lava were added, as well as F cycling between render distances, and N making a new "level", what they called a world at the time. Another thing: mobs don't dissapear when a new world is made. -
Classic 0.0.12a_01
All this version did was make it so that mobs are reset on a new world, making it possible to get rid of them again. -
Classic 0.0.13a
In this update, tons of changes were made: the texture of saplings was altered, lava became opaque with a thick red mist, the jumping height was adjusted back, the auto-jump feature (caused by holding space) was removed, and swimming and sinking speeds were increased, the resolution was improved, the highlighted inventory item. is now displayed in the top right corner, and water and lava always create stone. Finally, a bug fix now makes textures that touch the top and bottom of the map show.
