Windows 1.0
On Nov.20, 1985, Windows 1.0 was released. It offers multitasking of the existing MS-DOS. There were also small updates along the way.
1.2-(May, 1986) International release.
1.3-(August, 1986) Included updates that made it work with the 1.2 release, like drivers for European keyboards. Included screen and printer drivers.
1.4-(April, 1987) Added support for the new IBM comps. Also, Microsoft and IBM announced OS/2 and its graphical Presentation Manager, which was supposed to replace MS-DOS. -
Windows 2.0
Allowed application windows to overlap. Included keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to minimize and maximize as well as the previous zoom and iconize from Windows 1.0.
2.10-(May 27, 1988) This version can take advantage of the specific features of the Intel 80286 and Intel 80386 processors. Hard disk was needed for the first installation of Windows.
2.11-(March 13, 1989) Included minor changes in memory. -
Windows 3.0
The first successful version of MS.It included an update that made it easier to move data greater than 64KB, as the fist two could only move one segment of RAM. Also reduced Unrecoverable Application Errors.
3.2-(Nov 2, 1993) A simplified Chinese version released in the Chinese market. -
Windows 95
Practically simplified the "plug and play" features. There was a major change made to the core of the operating system. Also introduced the task bar, start button, and the way the user navigates. -
Windows 98
Windows 98 included Internet Explorer. This was the first Windows product to use Windows Driver Model. -
Windows 2000
Included new Windows Desktop Update and Internet Explorer 5 and 6. It also introduced USB device class drivers for printers. -
Windows ME
Included personalized menus, customizable Windows Explorer tool bars, shortcuts and tooltips, icon overlays, a drag and drop feature, advanced file type association features, and more. -
Windows XP
Included alpha compositing effects, drop shadows, and visual styles, making it completely change the style. It also added ClearType, a new subpixel rendering system.New icons were included. -
Windows Vista
Introduced Windows Aero, Shell, Search, Sidebar, Internet Explorer 7, Media Player 11, Defender, Backup and Restore Center, Mail, Calendar, Photo Gallery, DVD Maker, Media Center, Games Explorer, Mobility Center, Fax and Scan, Meeting Space, HotStart, Shadow Copy, Update, Parental Controls, SideShow, Speech Recognition, and many more. -
Windows 7
Added advances in touch and handwriting recognition, support for hard disk, improved performance on on multi-core processors, and more. -
Windows 8
Added a faster startup, new lock screen with clock and notifications. Also, the Task Manager was updated, including a new processes tab with the choice to show fewer or more details of running apps and background processes.

Windows 10
It was revised to fit in the Universal Windows Platform. These apps are supposed to run across multiple device classes, including phones, tablets, Xbox Ones, and other compatible Windows 10 devices.
