    After many events that Korea had with other countries, Japan secretly robbed and illegally took over Korea from 1910-1945. This was one of Korea's worse nightmares as they knew that Japan were planning to dominate Korea in their own country.

    1919 was the year in which the Koreans stepped out of their shell to confront the almighty Japanese. They demanded independence and had more than a million Koreans in the streets in the month of March. This was called the "First Movement".     Shanghai was the country in which the Koreans could regain their hope. They made a Provisional Government which would help them gain independence from Japan once and for all.     Once the Koreans thought that the Provisional Government was strong enough, they went back to their home which was now controlled by the Japanese and Declared Independence. The Koreans knew that they had to keep trying and pushing forward. They could feel the Japanese's defeat in their hands but they couldn't get their hopes high just yet.

    In Shanghai, the Koreans had seen a Japanese Military gathering. Yun Bong-gil was a Korean assassin. Yun Bong-gil threw a bomb disguised as a water bottle, killing many powerful military leaders of the Japanese army at Hongkou Park in Shanghai, China on April 29, 1932. The loss of many of these leaders made Japan weaker. Yun sacrificed himself for Korea because after the incident, Yun was arrested at the scene and convicted by the Japanese military court in Shanghai on 25 May.

    After the 35 years of Colonial Rule and the bombardment toward the Japanese Military Gathering in Shanghai, the Japanese Empire choses to surrender to the allies. Korea had waited all this time for this moment to occur, and now that it did, Korea could finally claim their country as theirs.

    After the Japanese Empire surrendered to the allies, the Koreans were liberated from Japan's 35 year long Colonial Rule would be one of the most important ones as the Koreans would now not be influenced by the Japanese no more.     Korea Splits into North and South. Soviet Union in the North and America in the South
    WWII was an important event. It was one of the most tragic events for the Japanese. In defeat, the Japanese empire surrendered Korea to America and the Soviet Union. When Korea was handed over, the Soviet Union took control of the North and America took control of the South. Korea was split at the 38th parallel so that the North and South were the same in area.

    Four years after the split of the country, "The Father of the Korean Nation"Kim Gu had been assassinated by Ahn Doo-Hee. After the death, North and South Koreans had once again tried to elect a new president. North Korea wanted to invade South Korea and South Korea wanted to invade North Korea. The elections had failed and this caused tensity to build up until North Korea (supported by the Soviet Union and China) rebelled against South Korea (supported by America).

    Due to the issues that North and South Korea had come across, the war had begun. There had been a lot of fighting going on between the Soviets (North) and the Americans (South). They were both fighting for territory. The North and the South Korea's wanted to obtain the whole Korea itself.

    The war had continued for three years. At the third year, the war had ended when the armistice agreement was signed. The agreement restored the border between the Koreas near the 38th Parallel and created the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a 2.5-mile (4.0 km)-wide fortified buffer zone between the two Korean nations.     Korea Signs the Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea.
    Before the WW2 came along Japan and Korea were main enemies since Japan took over Korea in 1910. After the WW2, Japan was took over by the Soviet Union and America and therefor had to give away the country to them. The life with the Soviets and the Americans was a lot better than the life with the Japanese, however, Korea wanted to Sign the Treaty on basic relations between them and Japan so that Korea could raise business and Economy levels.

    About 20 years after the Treaty of Basic relations was signed by the Koreans, the Economic levels rose drastically. The Koreans mastered the ability to negotiate and today, they are living with an abundant economic expansion. Now that we look back to Korea in the 1910s, we can tell the difference between when they didn't have independence and when they obtained it. In the beginning they were struggling for their lives, whereas now, they are one of the richest countries out there. Even today!
