The birth of "founder father of Hip-Hop"
In 1955, Clive Campbell was born in Kingston Jamaica. He is also know as the stage name "DJ Kool herc" and later became know as the "founder father oh Hip-Hop". Hip-Hop formed during the 1970's when block parties became increasingly popular in New York City. Hip-Hop was largely introduced into New York by immigrants from Jamaica and elsewhere in the Caribbean,including DJ Kool Herc. -
James Brown
James Brown records Live At The Apollo. Brown’s drummer Clayton Fillyau introduces a sound that is now known as the break beat. The break beat would later inspire the b-boy movement, as breakers danced to these beats at block parties. -
First block party by Dj Kool Herc
1973: DJ Kool Herc deejays his first block party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, Bronx, NY. Herc would often buy two copies of a record and stretch the break parts by using two turntables and mixing in both records before the break ends. -
Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5
The formation of Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5 in 1979 became one of the most influential groups of the time. The American Hip-Hop group formed in South Bronx New York. This group included 5 rappers, Melle Mel, Kidd Creole,keith Cowboy, Mr Ness and Rahiem. They eventually signed to Sugar Hill Records in early 1980s,their first hit was "freedom".The group is the most influential Hip Hop acts. -
First rapper to appear on national television
in the 1980s, kurtis Blow was the first rapper to appear on national television, releasing "the breaks" on Mercury Rewards, sells more than a million copies. -

Birth of beasties
The Beasties is an American Hip-Hop group, it first started as a punk band but eventually changed the face and look of Hip-Hop with their own unique style. The Beasties have toured with Madonna and sold 26 million albums in the United States and 50 million worldwide. According to the the Billboards, They are the biggest selling rap group. Also, they have been producing albums from 1986 to 2004 which makes them one of the longest lived Hip-Hop acts worldwide. -

The first female hip hop group
In 1985, salt n pepa and American Hip-Hop trio from Queens,New York make their first appearance on Super Nature’s “The Show Stopper." They become the first female hip-hop trio. Cheryl James, Sandra Denton and Latoya Hanson produced songs such as "shake your thang" and "push it". -

In 1988 "Yo!" MTV raps premiers. Ed Lover and Dr Dre host a show on MTV that focused on just rap music videos. -

Eminem
In 2003, Eminem becomes the new focus of a debate on hip-hop and racism after some unidentified friends of the rapper submitted a tape of him using the N-word and making several derogatory remarks about the African-American community.The source leaks the tape and Eminem apologises publically. -
2004 Vibe Awards
the middle of the 2004 Vibe Awards ceremony, a man named Jimmy James Johnson approaches rap legend Dr. Dre, who was preparing to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, and punches him in the face. A full-on brawl ensues during which Johnson gets stabbed. -
Best rap album
Eminem ends his four-year sabbatical with the release of Relapse. The album debuts at No. 1 and scores a Grammy win for Best Rap Album. -
