Fred Hollows started the National Trachoma and Eye Health Program
Fred Hollows started the National Trachoma and Eye Health Program in 1975. In three years, the NTEHP team treated over 465 communities and visited about 100,000 people and screened them, of which about 62,000 were Indigenous Australians. Roundabout 27,000 people were treated for trachoma and more than 1,000 operations were performed. -

Fred set up the Fred Hollows Foundation in 1992 which continued the work that Fred Hollows started and fulfilled his dream. Since 1992 Fred Hollows Foundation have been setting up eye care clinics in third world countries. -
Fred Hollows died aged 64
Fred Hallows died on the 10 of February, 1993 aged 64 in Sydney and he was buried in the town of Bourke.
