    In 1915, this three hour movie was the first 12-reel film in the U.S. Although this movie is historical it portrays African American males as extremely aggressive and it featured the Ku Klux Klan.

    In 1922, this was the first ever 3D film. They had the audience use red and green 3D glasses to get a better visual. This movie is now lost.

    This 1937 movie was the first animated movie. Walt Disney created this movie, but before he released it, he got ridiculed. People thought it was going to be bad, because adults didn't want to sit through an animated movie.

    In 1940, Hattie McDaniel was the first African American to win an Oscar. She won it for Best Supporting Actress in the infamous Gone With the Wind movie.

    In, 1958 Alvin Hitchcock directed and produced the film, Vertigo. It was the first film to use the dolly zoom. It is now referred as “the Vertigo Effect”.

    In 1970, Midnight Cowboy became the first and last movie to win Best Picture with an X- rated. In 1990, they replace the X- rated with an NC-17 label.

    In 1985, Michael J. Fox starred in this science-fiction movie. It grossed over $381 million worldwide, and it became the highest grossing movie of that year.

    In 1999, this movie was the first to use a 360 effect also known as " bullet time". In 2012, it was added to the National Film Registry. It grossed over $460 million worldwide.

    In 2009, this movie was finally released after originally being developed in 1994. The technology was not ready so they had to wait until new motion film techniques came out. This movie was the first movie to gross more than $2 billion and it was the best seller in 2010.

    In 2016, this musical drama grossed $445 million worldwide. It won every category when it was nominated in the 74th Golden Globe Awards. It received 14 nominations at the 89th Academy Awards and tied the record for most nominations with five other movies.
