The Beginning
The history of film began in the late 1880's along with the first movie camera. -
Camera's
one of the first camera's was the pinhole camera. Later came the camera obscura which was perfected by Giambattista della Porta. This camera works by inverting light from a small hole or lens on the outside which is then projected onto a surface or screen. -
Fast Motion
Eadweard Muybridge had succesfully captured a fast motion picture of the horse, Sallie Gardner, using 24 stereoscopic cameras placed 21 inches apart and taking pictures at one thousandth of a second. -
Praxinoscope
The praxinoscope, which is similar to the zoetrope, displayed still images which were viewed through a window as a mirror reflection. -
chronophotographic gun
The chronopotographic gun was invented by Étienne-Jules Marey. It was able to take 12 frames a second and recording them all on the same picture.
