    This invention was one of the first ever projectors. But this one had a hard time playing regular pieces of film. It could play pictures and make them move which started animation. Which made people very interested in different ways to animate.

    The Thaumatrope was a little circle attached to two pieces of string. Each side of the circle had a image on it. When the string was pulled it would move so fast it would look like both images were one. kinda like a pretty crude form of animation.

    After the the thaumatrope people wanted to see images move like something that was only in dreams. That idea led to the Phenakitoscope. the Phenakitoscope was a object with spinning disc and reflective mirrors. once spun fast enough it makes it look like the images on the spinning disc were moving.

    only a couple of years after the phenakitoscope people wanted something bigger to look at. This lead to the invention of the Zoetrope. The Zoetrope was a large disc like object that needed to be spun fast to see a mostly smooth moving image.

    people who couldn't afford the nice new mechanics for small and short animations had to come up with something else. most people didn't really like drawing back then but as soon as the invention of the flip book came out people started to go crazy for drawing and making there own animated shorts.This invention led to the rise in popularity of animation and changed the world.

    This is where cgi was being used the most. Pixar was the company that just started using it and was getting shorts set up for people to watch. This is also around the time Pixar made it's first hit "Toy Story".
