  • Invention of the Thaumatrope

    Invention of the Thaumatrope

When the disk is spun the imgages merge into one. The thaumatrope was used by Paul Roget in 1828 to demonstrate his persistence of vision concept.

Louis Daguerre, assistant to Niepce, later developed a process for developing images in the year 1837. He called it Daguerre- types or tin- type photos.

It was a spinning disc and when looking thorugh the moving slits the discs would reflect in a mirror. It was also invented independentely by Simon V. Stampfer from Vienna, Austria in 1832.

He replaced its narrow viewing slirs with an inner circle of mirrors, so that the images could be able to reflect. The device was called the " praxinoscope".

    The Lumiere brothers and motions pictures in France
    ( Image by www.snipview.com) Auguste and Louis Lumiere were french inventors and pioneer manufacturers. They created the first motion picture , " Workers leaving the factory". In 1907 they launched the color photo process so that movies can be seen in color rather than in black and white.

    Muybridges discovery
    ( image by tspwiki.com0 Eadweard J. Muybridge was hired by govenor leland stanford to photograph his race horse. Stanford had a wager that all four hooves of a horse leave the ground when running, muybridge wanted to see if his theory would be correct. Muybrige used 24 cameras and his still photographs appeared to be moving.
