When it was built
Alexander F. "Beau" Godefroy built the first hair dryer in 1890. It was the first hair dryer ever made, and it was run by a power cord and a hand crank. -
What it looked like
Alexanders invention was a seated and consisted of a bonnet that attached to the chimney pipe of a gas stove. -
The first hand dyer
The first hand-held hair dryer was built in 1920. it wasn't the hair dryer as we know today. The first hand-held hair dryer was big, bulky and overheated. It only had a 100 watts of heat, the first hand-held hair dryer did not dry hair very quickly. -
The bonnet hair dryer
Hair dryers in the 1960"s were made from light weight materials than their earlier dryers and were able to produce up to 500 watts. They motors were built differently and made it easier. -
The modern hair dryer
They then built a light weight dryer to handle it easier. It had a 2000 watts power. -
Buttons
They then added buttons for warm high ,medium, low. They also put a feature of cold mode so it would not do as much damage to your hair. -
Attachements
Some companies have useful attachments for your hair. For an example they have a bowl shaped tool that curls and drys your hair. -
More attachments
They also have tools that help straight, curl your hair that attaches right to the your hairdryer. Many brands require you to use theirs machines and there attachments. -
What Salons use
Many salons use expensive hairdryers and products to get best results. They also use products to help not damage your hair as much. Heat damages your hair and some salons use heat production. -
Wattages
Wattage's are measures of electrical power expressed in watts. Many different brand and styles have different watts, some may have 2000 or some might have 1000 watts.
