The Archduke of Austria-Hungary was assassinated when his driver took a wrong turn in Serbia and conveintly ran into somebody who attempted to assassinate him earlier in the day, and failed. This began world war one. -

A month after Serbians assassinated the archduke, Austria declared war on Serbia. -

The Lusitania was a British passenger ship with Americans aboard it going to England. It was sunk outside of Ireland on May 7th, 1915. -

The battle occurred outside of Verdun and lasted 10 months, it what is generally considered to be a stalemate throughout. The French won by default. The casualities were somewhere around a million. -

This was a four month battle on the German-French border that resulted with the Germans pulling back 50 miles. -
