    You meet the narrator Nick Carraway who is Daisy's cousin. He is a younger man who moved to New York from Minnesota. He's the one throughout the story stays the same and tells you who is doing what.

    When Nick prepares to leave he is introduced to Tom and Daisy's daughter and Daisy says,"I hope she’ll be a fool—that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.” They also make a hint for him to take a intrest in Jordan. after saying good bye he heads home to g\seeing Gatsby standing along the water with his arms spread wide looking at a green light across the way.

    Nick after graduating from Yale and moving west egg he drives over to Daisy's to have dinner with her and her husband Tom who meets him in the hallway in riding clothing which shows off his masculinity. Daisy is laying on a couch with Jordan Baker who is Nick's girlfriend throughout the novel. During dinner Tom recieves a phone call and is followed out of the room by Daisy. we then learn from Jordan its Tom's lover on the other end of the phone.

    One day Tom and Nick go on the commuter train from west egg to NYC Tom forces Nick to get off the train at one stop and they head to George Wilsons garage. We tere meet Tom's lover Myrtle which happens to be George's wife. Tom, Nick and Myrtle all then get on a trin heading to a apartment building in NYC. The group then has a party with Myrtles sister and some neighbors. Nick gets drunk for the 2nd time in his life.

    Gatsby got famous for throwing massive parties everyone comes too. Nick gets a invite from his neighbor, Gatsby, for one of these parties and heads to the party at the appointed time. Nick then runs into Jordan at the party and starts to hang around with her. Gatsby’s party is almost unbelievably luxurious: guests look over his Rolls-Royce, his swimming pool, his beach, crates of fresh oranges and lemons, buffet tents in the gardens overflowing with flowers.     the entertainment. They sit at a table with a handsome young man who says that Nick looks familiar to him; they realize that they served in the same division during the war. The man introduces himself as Jay Gatsby. Nick describes him as ,"He had one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life."

    Gatsby now shows he is in love with Daisy and has been for a very long tme. Daisy drank herself into numbness the night before her wedding, after she received a letter from Gatsby. Daisy has apparently remained faithful to her husband throughout their marriage, but Tom has not. Gatsby bought his mansion in West Egg solely to be near Daisy. Nick remembers the night he saw Gatsby stretching his arms out to the water and realizes that the green light he saw was the light was Daisy's dock.

    Gatsby wants to hold a meeting at Nicks house so he can see Daisy. Daisy is to be invited over for tea and not told Gatsby is coming. Gatsby is nervous that Daisy will not want to see him. It raisn the day of the meeting which makes Gatsby even more nervous.

    At first, Gatsby’s reunion with Daisy is terribly awkward. Gatsby knocks Nick’s clock over and tells Nick sorrowfully that the meeting was a mistake. After he leaves the two alone for half an hour, however, Nick returns to find them radiantly happy—Daisy shedding tears of joy and Gatsby glowing. Outside, the rain has stopped, and Gatsby invites Nick and Daisy over to his house, where he shows them his possessions.

    Gatsby was born James Gatz on a North Dakota farm, and though he attended college at St. Olaf’s in Minnesota, he dropped out after two weeks. He worked on Lake Superior the next summer fishing for salmon and digging for clams. He went to work for Dan Cody after warning him about a storm coming. One of his jobs was to watch after the druken Cody. While traveling he fell in love with wealth and luxury. When Cody died he left Gatsby $25,000 but Cody's mistress woudnt give it to him.

    Tom has stopped for a drink at Gatsby’s house with Mr. and Mrs. Sloane, with whom he has been out riding. Gatsby seems nervous and agitated, and tells Tom awkwardly that he knows Daisy. Tom is highly critical of Daisy’s habit of visiting Gatsby’s house alone. He is suspicious, but he has not figured out Gatsby and Daisy’s love. The next weekend Tom and Daisy attend a Gatsby party. Tom is just attending to watch Daisy and starts to tell her rumors about Gatsby.

    Tom figures out Gatsby and Daisy's love for one another and decides to take Daisy's request to go the the city but for them all to go. Daisy and Gatsby takes Tom's car while the rest take Gatsby's. They stop at George's station to fill up and find out wilson knows of the affair but not whom with. on their way back from NYC they switch cars back and as Tom and pulls into town sees someone has been fatally struck by a car. They find out its myrtle who ran out in front of Gatsby thinking it was Tom

    Wilson vows to figure out who the killer of his wife is. He knows that tom did not own the car that struck her even though he was driving it before. He asks Tom who it belongs to and Tom tells him Gatsby. Wilson then goes to Gatsby's where he his laying on air matteress in his pool, which is the first time he has used it all year, and shoots him instantly killing him. he then turns the gun on himself. Nick gets to Gatsby's finding both dead.

    Nick trys toget as many people to come as he can but all of Gatsby's "friends" disappear. Tom and Daisy move away leaving no mailing address and refuse to come. Nick realizes they only care about themselves and will wreck anyone else because they know they are protected from their money. Owl Eyes, Gatsby's dad and a few servants are the only ones to attend the funeral.

    Nick decides to move back to the midwest and compares everything that happend to a old west story. He ends it with Jordan before he leaves that now tells him she is enganged to another man. He runs in to Tom on 5th Av. and refuses to shake his hand but later on agrees. he tells him Gatsby deserved to die which confirms Nick's theory of them not being effected because of their money.
