Gatsby and Daisy meet in louisville
Gatsby and Daisy meet for the fist time and their relationship sparks with no idea of what is to come. Gatsby is now more than just another lieutenant that took Daisy out for a date. -
Gatsby leaves Daisy to go off to war
Daisy attempts to see Gatsby off at his departure but she is hindered by her her mother as she is packing her bags to leave. -

As Gatsby is trying to return to his love, Daisy, he gets stuck in Oxford which causes Daisy to marry Tom. -
Daisy meets Tom
Daisy gets restless waiting for Gatsby to return and as she begins to start dating again she meetes her future husband Tom. -
Tom and Daisy get engaged
Daisy, at some point, may have been truely in love with Tom, but their marriage symbolizes her need to always be financially stable in order to support her extravagant lifestyle. -
Tom and Daisy get married
Tom and Daisy marry shorlty after they meet. Daisy to some extent is in fact in love with Tom, but her main motivation was his financial status. -

The Treaty of Versailles is officially signed and the fighting is over -
Gatsby returns to Louisville
Gatby finally gets out of Oxford and returns to where him and Daisy origiannly had met in hopes of recreating their past. -

After three weeks, Gatsby runs out of money and leaves Lousiville empty handed. -

Gatsby meets wolfshiem when he is penniless and wolfshiem builds him back up from nothing. -

Daisy has her daughter, Pammy, with her husband Tom. She is absent for most of the book and looked after by a maid. -
Nick moves east
Following the war, Nick's father agrees to finance him for a year and he proceeds to move east to enter the bond bussiness. -
Nick has dinner with the Buchanans
Soon after Nick moves east he reunites with his cousin Dasiy and old friend from college, Daisy's husband, who live on east egg island. -
Nick moves in next to Gatsby
Compared to Gatsby's exravagant mansion right next door, NIcks house is described as a shack. -
Nick meets Jordan Baker
Nick sees Jordan for the fist time in Daisy's livingroom and she acts completely superficial; tilting her head towards the ceiling and barely batting an eyelash when he arrives. -
Nick meets Tom's mistress
Tom is very open about the fact that he is cheating on Daisy and is in a sense showing off just another one of his "possessions" to Nick -
Nick sees the Valley of Ashes
Tom and Nick are driving into the city and Nick sees the clear divide between the upper and lower classes of the state of New York. -
Myrtle returns from spending the day with Tom and her face is bruised and swollen
Wilson takes note of Myrtle's face, but at the time can not comprehend that his wife would ever be unfaithful to him -
Gatsby and the green light
Nick sees his mysterious neighbor walking with his arms open torward the green light at the end of aisy's dock which is Nick's first glimps at Gatsby's lust for Daisy -
Nick attends his first party at Gatsby's house
At first Nick doesn't fit in with the frivolous party guests because he is not much of a drinker but he then loosens up begins to have a good time -
Nick has tea with Jordan
NIck is told of Gatsby's request to have Daisy over as soon as possible so that they can be reunited in hopes of recreating the past. -
Daisy and Gatsby are reunited
Nick has Daisy over just as Gatsby had requested and Gatsby feels the need for every detail to be perfect in oder to impress her. -
Tom and Daisy attend one of Gatsby'd parties
Tom is on edge the whole time because Gatsby and Daisy's affair is right under his nose. Daisy has a bad time and even Nick notices that he did not enjoy the usual company that he had kept at previous parties -
Gatsby stops throwing his parties
After noticing what a horrible time Daisy had at his last party Gatsby decides to give them up all togther. After all, everything that Gatsby does seems to be motivated by Daisy in some way and this is just another attempt of his to win her over. -
Myrtle's husband finds evidence of her affair with Tom
Tom Finds a fancy dog leash that Myrtle had gotten for her and Tom's dog. This is the first and only hard evidence Wilson has found of his Wife's affair and is what sends him over the edge. -
Myrtle is hit by Gatsby's car
Myrtle's death is ironic due to the fact that she was killed by Gatsby's car, the ultimate symbol of materialism and also because Daisy was actually driving and she unkowingly plowed down her husband's mistress -
9:00am Gatsby and Nick have breakfast
Gatsby spends the morning with Nick as his is still distraught over what happened to Myrtle the day before -
9:10am Gatsby's butler wants to drain the pool
Gatsby tells his butler to wait because he had not gone swimmimg all summer and today he finally wanted to. In this instant, Gatsby unknowingly choses the location of his murder. -
9:15am Nick misses his train to work
Nick proceeds to miss the following train as well beacuse he is reluctant to leave Gatsby alone -
9:45am Nick leaves for work
Even though Nick claims to be not worth a decent stroke of work, he finally boards the train and heads off to work -
12:00pm Jordan calls
While Nick is still at work he recieves a phone call from Jordan Baker, which isn't uncommon at this time in the day, however Nick is uncharacteristically uninterested in their converstaion and ends their relationship by abruptly hanging up. -
12:05pm Nick attempts to call Gatsby
Nick calls Gatsby four times but there was no answer and he later finds that the line was being held open in expectation of a long distance phone call from Chicago. -
6:30am Michaelis Leaves Wilson alone in his garage
At this point Wilson is still upset over the death of Myrtle and everyone who had gathered in the intial crowd, including Michaelis, left him. -
10:30am Michaelis returns and Wilson is missing
Michaelis needed to take a quick break from babysitting Wilson but when he retuens to the garage Wilson is no where to be found and is already on his way to seek revenge for his wife's murder. -
12:00pm Wilson walks to Gad's Hill
Geoge walks very slowly from his house and reaches Gad's Hill where he buys a coffee and a sandwich, but is too distressed to eat. -
2:30pm Wilson arrives at West Egg
Wilson is spotted walking around West Egg in search of Gatsby's house -
2:00 Gatsby goes swimming
Gatsby decides to go swimming in his pool after not using it the entire summer. He carries the matress he wants to float on all by himself and refuses the butler's offers to help. -
3:50pm Nick heads back to West Egg
Nick takes the 3:50 train home from work -
4:00pm Wilson shoots Gatsby
Wilson approaches Gatsby's house from the back and finds Gatsby sun bathing at the pool. Nick, the butler, the gardener and the chauffeur hear the gunshots and rush to the pool. -
5:30pm Nick calls Meyer Wolfsheim
Nick wants to inform Wolfsheim of what happened to Gatsby, but no one answers his office phone. -
4:30pm Nick calls Daisy
Daisy doesn't answer the phone and is told that she and Tom left home earlier that afternoon leaving no adress or any indication of where they were headed. -
1:45pm Wilson arrives at Tom's house
Wilson goes to Tom's house because Tom is the only person he can connect to the car that ran over Myrtle. He then threatens Tom with a gun until Tom finally tells him that Gatsby is the onwer of the "death car" -
Nick sends a letter to Wolfshiem
The morning after Gatby's death Nick sends Gatsby's butler with a letter adressed to Wolfshiem urging him to vome out to West Egg on the next available train -
A long distance phone call comes in for Gatsby
Later that afternoon, a man who refers to himself as "Slagle" calls long distance thinking that he wil be reaching Gatsby and tells Nick that "young Parkes in trouble" before realizing who he was actually talking too. -
A telegram from Henry C. Gatz arrives
Three days after Gatsby's death, Nick recieves a telegram from Gatsby's father in Minnesota telling him that he plans to leave for West Egg immediately to attend the funeral. -
Gatsby's father arrives
Henry Gatz arrives in West Egg for the funeral looking solemn, helpless and dismayed, but is extremely impressed by his son's financial sucess and lavish possesstions -
Klipspringer calls
Klipspinger calls completley unaffected by the death of Gatsby and called soley to ask for a pair of shoes he had left at Gatsby's house. He hardly even acknowledges Nick's request for him to attend the upcoming funeral. -
Nick goes to visit Meyer Wolfsheim
The morning of the funeral, Nick goes to Wolfsheim's New York office in order to talk to him personally and learns of how Wolfsheim and Gatsby had become bussiness partners and such close friends. -
Nick sees Tom in New York
Nick runs into Tom while they are both in the city and Tom admits to telling Wilson it was Gatsby's car that ran Myrtle over. -
Nick writes the story of his experiences
Two years after Gatsby's death Nick looks back and reflects on all of the events of that summer and brings the story together
